10 Pandemic-Proof Holiday Date Ideas

  1. Holiday light drive thrus.

Google “holiday light drive through near me” and you’ll immediately get some results!

Here’s some if you’re on the east coast:

Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, maryland

You can also totally just cruise through neighborhoods near you!

2. Have a gingerbread night.

Grab a gingerbread house kit, some apple cider or hot cocoa, and get to building! Throw a holiday movie on while you’re at it, or play some lofi holiday tunes.

Maybe you’re feeling really adventurous and want to do the whole thing from scratch. That’s cool! Send me pictures because I’ve never successfully made a gingerbread house without a kit and I’m jealous.

If you want a gingerbread house that won’t mold, you can make one out of paper, or my personal favorite option, legos.

3. Decorate all the things.

Pull out all the dEcor you have (yes, even the stuff you stored away a year ago and forgot about). diy some new stuff, and put that christmas music on the speakers.

If you’re decorating outside, start when it’s warmest outside so you don’t freeze to death. Maybe you’ll get it all done before the sun sets and can light up the night.

4. Holiday movie marathon.

Are they ridiculously cheesy?

Y E S.

But fun, nonetheless. Get your hot cocoa bombs ready, snap off some peppermint bark, light the holiday candles you’ve been hoarding, and snuggle up with extra blankets and pillows.

If you have matching pjs you 400% have to wear them.

5. Bake all of the holiday treats.

Gingerbread cookies, spiced molasses cookies, peppermint bark for your movie marathon, eggnog bread, challah, dreidel marshmallows. All of it.

And enjoy it! Enjoy the process, get messy, play music, dance in the kitchen, and maybe share some with coworkers or family. Maybe not. it’s up to you.

6. Online window shop together.

Have a fake budget, or no budget, and go crazy. Want that ring at tiffany’s? Put it in the cart. The new Traeger grill with all the accessories? It’s happening. Make a list for all the decadent furniture and priceless art you’ll have in your castle on the hill together.

Save that cash and the environment though and gift each other experiences or diy things that are useful and meaningful!

7. Make a list of service-related gifts.

These can be for each other, loved ones, your community, co-workers, whoever.

Maybe it’s volunteering at your local animal shelter, serving at a food drive, or making care kits and passing them out to less-fortunate folks. Read this before making any kits though!

Make a list and then make each one of those items a priority!

8. Plan a dream vacation and put it on your bucket list.

Pull out all the stops!

Plan the river cruise in france. Look at airbnbs in the PNW.

Want to hike for 5 months in Europe? Look at all the gear you’ll need to buy and add it to your list.

Start a google drive folder for dream vacations and getaways and have fun. Soon you’ll be able to go and you’ll have it all organized already!

9. Watch a virtual perfomance.

Listen to the Grinch on the radio, check out Miracle on 34th Street and make a donation to a worthy cause. As a former dancer myself, I can’t help but tell you to watch the nutcracker ballet. the San Francisco Ballet is going to showing virtually this year and that means you can watch it from home!

10. Go sledding.

Hopefully you’re in an area that has snow because it’s the best thing ever!!! Find a hill, find a trash can lid or an actual sled (check your local thrift stores!), and go nuts. Be kids again and just be silly!

If you’re into skiing or snowboarding, go do that! Just be mindful of others and keep your distance.

Next holiday season will be a lot different.

In the best way, of course. so hang in there. enjoy your time together, enjoy this holiday season, and make the most of it.
